Arin Hanson has a pretty renowned reputation of only producing projects that he's gained a passion for.
We know that one of his main passions is Video Games and the other is animating; so why not mush them together, add a very articulated script, Arin's narration, and BOOM! Sequelitis was born!
This is the thumbnail of the episode of Sequelitis that I'll be reviewing for you all so that you know whether to give this a shot or not: "Castlevania 1 vs. Castlevania 2"!
I've already got my hopes up because I'm a big fan of Egoraptor's work, plus the video lasts less than 20 minutes, which means for people like me who have a short attention span; it's really promising.
The video starts out with a cute, quick, video game sounding theme song that lasts 3 seconds with a cartoon Arin popping into screen, showing you that Arin is our narrator of the series. It then immediately starts with footage of Castlevania 1 playing wihlst Arin speaks over the game.
He later goes on to talk about how much Castlevania 1 rules, even with it's minor set-backs of a slow respondingwhip. Yet compared to Castlevania 2... it was genius.
I feel at this point I should say that I had literally no idea what Castlevania was until Sequelitis came about, the whole reason I subscribed to GameGrumps was to explore new games and have a laugh while doing so. So I looked up some Castlevania 1 and 2 walkthroughs to get the gist of the game before the only opinion I would have on the games would be Arin's.

One of the points I really liked that Arin came up with was the colour scheme in Castlevania 1. It is beautiful, daring, and bold with a bright pallete and an even brighter hero. The way that Simon Belmont just stands out even with all the orange and darker orange aroun him shows how he shines as our clasic hero of the night. Even the colours of his clothing show a stylish tunic and easy to wear-down boots.

Now look at "Simon's Quest". Where's Simon? Anyone? Yeah, he's the one whipping the hanging corpse. Now if it weren't for that wicked whip line you wouldn't have seen him, would've you? I only know that because that was the only way I identied him myself! Altough I did nearly mistake him for the skeleton on the bottom right hand side, or that warrior just a few blocks above him. It's okay. We've all been victims of "Simon's Quest"'s pallete choice.
I must say though one of my favourite parts of Arin's narration as a whole was that he was himself. He was goofy, funny, and loud. Also cursing. Lots and lots of awesome cursing. No matter what was on screen, Arin's voice alone just took over your attention, for a refreshing change the background noise was the actual game footage! He also showed his animation ability through the starting sequence alone by being able to animate a nonchalonte hair flip. The amount of clarity in his video was a great feature to keep you concentrated, he even added awesome comedy pieces so it felt like you were just having a conversation with him at home.
All in all, I can't wait for the next episode! Egoraptor, you've done it again! I look forward to the day where you don't master what you do! And for all of the readers who haven't seent he video, it's ready and waiting to be watched below:
